The difference between Melbourne and Sydney and the rest is becoming stark, with the smaller cities leading the rebound notching up positive months. <br> <br> <img src="https://offthecuff.io/wp-content/uploads/Images/2020-09-22_09.50.26.png" style="max-height: 100%; max-width: 100%; float: none;"> <br><br>Canberra and Adelaide have performed well during 2020, Brisbane and Perth have only recently turned positive and appear to be building some strong momentum, both increasing 0.6%.<br><br><b>Brisbane</b><br><br><br><br> <img src="https://offthecuff.io/wp-content/uploads/Images/2020-09-22_10.00.16.png" style=" max-height: 100%; max-width: 100%;"> <br> <br><b>Perth</b><br><br> <br><br> <img src="https://offthecuff.io/wp-content/uploads/Images/2020-09-22_10.00.53.png" style=" max-height: 100%; max-width: 100%;"> <br> <br>As we look forward it was with interest that we heard some bank CEOs provide words of caution with regards to potential property price falls and that it may be better to sell now rather than later.<br><br>Commonwealth Bank <a href="https://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/financial-services/commonwealth-bank-ceo-matt-comyn-says-some-property-investors-should-consider-selling/news-story/14d6f4b8cfee3344ebc43104b4ad17ae" target="_blank">CEO Matt Comyn highlighted</a> that “Investing lending is at its lowest since 2004,” and suggested some investors may wish to consider selling. He also signalled that he expects most borrowers will return to making loan payments by the end of 2020.<br><br>ANZ CEO Mr Elliott also said that the bank’s latest modelling indicated that house prices would fall in a range of 10-15 per cent, with the economy to bottom in 2022.<br><br>NAB CEO <a href="https://www.smh.com.au/business/banking-and-finance/nab-profits-slump-7-percent-meeting-costs-target-increasingly-challenging-20200813-p55lga.html" target="_blank">Ross McEwan said</a> "but there unfortunately will be some situations where it’s better off for people to actually sell up and start again, so that they can take some equity out of the situation".<br><br>It is clear we are some way from truly understanding the impact of this pandemic, particularly its lasting impact on employment and the timing and speed of the economic recovery.<br> <br>That's it for this issue.
